HCB Quilters Raffle off Relay for Life Quilt
The Hastings City Bank Quilters made and sold tickets for a quilt in the weeks prior to the Barry County American Cancer Society Relay for Life event at Tyden Park. They also sold tickets during the Relay on Saturday, August 14. The pastel colored queen/king size quilt, and two pillows made by members of the HCB quilters, was won by Nancy Jeffery, of Hastings.
“I’m flabbergasted” said Nancy. “I couldn’t walk the track for the Relay and thought buying the raffle tickets might be a way to help the cause.”
Nancy bought her tickets at the Hastings branch of Hastings City Bank.
Funds raised from the raffle totaled $726.00, with all proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society. The HCB Quilters include Kathy Miller, Laura Strouse, Geanie Wieringa, Beverly McDyer, Brenda Chandler, Anne Wolf, Annette Spahr, Pamela Kruger, Patricia Hamilton, Glenda Koutz, Vicki Wills and Dawn Crapo. Long arm quilter Windy McCarren donated a portion of her proceeds for the cause. The HCB Quilters have already been discussing the pattern for next years quilt.
